Clarens is a place of awe-inspiring beauty, a valley that is protected by the Maluti Mountains on one side and the Rooiberg Mountains (Red Mountains) on the other, creating a vibrant work of natural art that is hard to replicate.

In fact, this is the very reason that artists make Clarens their home.  The inspiration drawn from these surroundings is evident in many of the art galleries that line an avenue dedicated to art in all forms.

You’ll find that even the art on display in the rooms at Clarens Eddies are all originals painted by locals, and collected with great care over the years by owner Dawn Trevelyan.

Clarens Eddies B&B/Self Catering is just the place for you if you want the right accommodation from which to venture into and soak up all that makes Clarens the ‘Jewel of the Eastern Free State’.

Comfort, cleanliness and style top the list of reasons that Clarens Eddies has become home to many visitors who keep returning to tick off more of the exhaustive list of activities and adventures on offer in and around Clarens.

The staff is friendly and caring, always ready and willing to go the extra mile to make your stay one that is far above average.  Most guests expect this level of comfort and service excellence to cost an arm and a leg, but this is where Clarens Eddies is once again the exception.

Affordable accommodation in Clarens is a given with this team, and for extra measure, there is always a special on accommodation added into this great package that makes a holiday in Clarens suit every budget.

Clarens is about more than just its art.  It also offers stunning hikes and walks that don’t require a high level of fitness, with each hike offering a different perspective of the collective beauty echoed in the surrounding areas.

Of course, if you are into a tougher hike, you’ll be more than satisfied with what’s on offer at the foot of the Maluti’s and into the Rooiberge! The Sentinel hike in the Drakensburg is only one and a half hour drive from Clarens.

After spending the day mountain biking, hiking or white river rafting, you’ll probably be ravenously hungry, in which case you’ll have some of the best restaurants right round the corner from Clarens Eddies, waiting to invite you into a night on the town in this one hundred year old village.

The stunning shades of sandstone you’ll see in the mountains around you and from your window at Clarens Eddies is echoed in the architecture of Clarens, adding history to this quaint village.

About history in Clarens.  The dinosaurs were here first and they left evidence that can be explored to make sure that we know it.  Then the San made this valley their home, leaving their mark behind in the form of Bushmen paintings.

From there things went somewhat downhill with the Anglo-Boar wars and those between the Basotho’s and burghers of the then Boer settlement.

All of this is in evidence in and around Clarens, waiting for all who’d like to take a trip into the history of this town that is little changed over a century later a journey worth taking.

There is so much more to Clarens than can be expressed here in short form that you simply have to make your booking with the team at Clarens Eddies to experience the very best of it for yourself. Second hand can never come close to the real thing in this case!
