Who says you can’t have peace and adventure at the same time?  Whoever it is, ignore them, they simply haven’t experienced Clarens!

Clarens is just 3 to 4 hours away from Durban, Johannesburg or Bloem, an easy road trip that holds a ton of excitement at the end of it.

We need to explore more of our backyard and not leave it to international visitors to discover hidden gems off the beaten track like Clarens.

The peace is definitely there if you need a break from noise pollution, traffic jams and hectic days.  You can veg completely in this beautiful valley, but it’s highly unlikely you will!

There’s just too much to see and enjoy in this picturesque village hugging the foot of the Maluti Mountains.

The views of the surrounding Malutis and Redberg Mountains are breath-taking, and you’ll be enveloped in all the peace you need that pervades the natural beauty, without a doubt.

Bird watching and fishing in Clarens is irresistible, if that’s about as much energy as you want to expend on your holiday.

There are also gentle walking trails that dot the entire area around Clarens that will appeal, especially if you’re looking for spectacular views of the valley, and they don’t take much effort at all. Of course there is the walks for the very fit walker!!

If you’re into biking, you’ll love the biking trails in Clarens!  Naturally this is also an area that lures quad bikers by the thousands each year, and you can add fantastic 4×4 drives to the mix as well.

This is also horse country, and with beautiful trails that’ll take you through the Maluti Mountains and into Lesotho, where you could spend days trekking in the saddle, and still not cover all there is to explore.

Here’s the thing though; before you pack up the car and trailer, you’ll want to know that you’ve booked the best accommodation in Clarens. This will be central to everything you’d like to do at the end of this road trip!
